Must Know Facts
: What Kids Need To Know
Our kids need to know how we feel about smoking. Even though
we, as parents, will never seem as cool to our kids as the
cool kids in school, what we tell them about smoking can make
a difference. In fact, studies have proven that kids whose
parents were on record with them that they would be upset
if they were caught smoking were much less likely to smoke.
Talk with them about your feelings and let them know the types
of consequences that will be involved if they do decide to
experiment. Remember not to be too heavy-handed or punitive,
but make your points clear. By communicating openly and honestly,
you and your child can come to an agreement about cigarettes
together.
